What is Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy, or talk therapy, is a collaborative treatment where you speak with a trained mental health professional to address emotional difficulties, unhealthy thinking/behavior patterns, and mental health issues like depression or anxiety, helping you gain insight, develop coping skills, and improve overall well-being. It involves structured conversations to understand problems, process trauma, manage stress, and build healthier ways of functioning in a confidential, supportive setting.
What it helps with:
Mental health conditions: Depression, anxiety, trauma, OCD, PTSD, fears, phobias or personality disorders.
Emotional challenges: Stress, grief, anger, mood swings, low self-esteem, relationship problems.
life events: Coping with loss, medical illness, or major life changes or transitions.
Behavioral issues: Unhealthy habits, self-harm, addiction.
How it works:
Helps you recognize harmful thoughts and behaviors.
Teaches coping skills and strategies for problem-solving, communication, and stress management.
Explores root causes of feelings and behaviors, often through examining past experiences.
Includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, exposure therapy, and more, depending on the therapist and client needs.
Types of sessions:
Individual therapy, Couples therapy, Family therapy, and Group therapy.
